KCAL Insurance and Hartford Express Their Gratitude to LA County Fire Department

With the recent Bobcat Fire and more than 20 wildfires occurring one after another, the skies have become covered with smoke and ash, turning the city into a gloomy orange. In this year alone, damage from wildfires has exceeded 2.2 million acres, setting a record high in California history!

With all these wildfires still going on, firefighters have dedicated their time to serving and protecting the community, fighting against the wildfires and on the frontline during the pandemic. To express their gratitude to the firefighters, KCAL Insurance and well-known insurance company Hartford showed their appreciation by providing lunch and PPE supplies to the LA County Fire Department. On September 11, KCAL and Hartford stopped by Stations 119, 120 and 121 to deliver lunch and PPE supplies. Diamond Bar Councilmember Andrew Chou, Parks and Recreations Commissioner Stanly Liu, and Planning Commissioner Bill Rawlings were all present at the event to express their gratitude to the local fire stations as well.

Andrew Chou, Councilmember of the City of Diamond Bar mentioned that he was honored to join KCAL in delivering lunches and PPE supplies for the local fire station, and also touched on the fact that the event was held on this memorable occasion, the anniversary of 9/11. 9/11 took the lives of over 400 firefighters, and will forever be remembered in our hearts. In the midst of one of the worst fire seasons California has ever experienced, firefighters contribute so much to the community, dedicating their lives to protect the safety and the homes of the residents in local communities.

David Rathke, Director of the LA County Fire Department Station 120, warmly reminded the public to pay attention to the surroundings outside their homes by making sure to clean the fallen branches and leaves that might be found outside their houses. He also reminded everyone to check the batteries on their smoke alarms to make sure that their smoke alarms are still working. If any accidents occur, call 9-1-1. Fire stations are on call 24/7 and are always ready to serve the community.

Kenny Chang, President of KCAL Insurance Agency and Member of the Los Angeles County Commission on Insurance, and Erika Carvajal, Commercial Insurance Account Executive at The Hartford were also in attendance. Mr. Chang has always been a longtime supporter in the community, doing everything in his power to educate the community and give back to the community. He stressed the importance of disaster prevention awareness, and to have routine inspections and fire alarm installations to stay prepared. It’s also important that your home has the proper insurance coverage to ensure comprehensive protection. In the unfortunate event that an accident were to occur, home insurance would help minimize personal loss.

The appreciation event was organized by KCAL Insurance and well-known insurance company, Hartford, who has also been known for supporting well-known Chinese restaurants in the local community.
